Urban Trek Quilt Pattern (PDF)
Urban Trek was inspired by Heather's love of bold color combinations and geometric design. As the project progressed it reminded her of shapes and textures you encounter on a walk in the city, e.g. crosswalks, manhole covers, traffic signs and construction sites. Heather loves the effect of mixing simple piecing in new and interesting combinations as a way to freshen up a quilt. This pattern also uses an oversized drunkards path template, another unexpected element.
This pattern is an advanced beginner to intermediate and features a strong modern aesthetic. The pattern includes full color diagrams, easy to follow instructions, templates, and a coloring page for customizing your own quilt.

About the Designer
Heather Black’s passion for quilt design is founded in her past as a landscape oil painter and her desire to be creative. She first tried quilting in 1995 but didn’t catch the quilting bug until 2011 when she designed, pieced and hand quilted her first queen size quilt. Shortly after that she discovered modern quilting and from that point on Heather has been designing and making quilts whenever possible. Her quilts and patterns have been featured in various quilting publications and is an active member in various local guilds included The Modern Quilt Guild. Heather has had a myriad of quilts displayed at international, national and regional quilt shows. Her quilts have hung at International Quilt Festival, AQS QuiltWeek, QuiltCon, MQX, Road to California and many more. She won first place use of negative space for her Urban Trek quilt at QuiltCon 2018 and several ribbons in regional shows.
Along with quilting Heather is a single widowed mom of a beautiful girl, CoraJoan, and lives in Spokane, WA. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest and attended college in Pennsylvania. Many of her designs are inspired the landscape in her home state. She maintains a blog at www.quiltachusetts.com and is active on Instragram under @quiltachusetts.
